Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica met today with Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski and he stressed the importance of a very good and friendly relationship that exists between Serbia-Montenegro and Macedonia and called for its further improvement.

Kostunica reiterated that it is necessary to ensure the respect of basic human rights of Serbs living in Kosovo-Metohija and he stressed that Belgrade must take part in decentralisation talks on an equal footing.
Kostunica and Crvenkovski also stressed the importance of building a highway between Belgrade and Macedonia’s capital, Skopje, as well as the need to open new border crossings between the two countries in order to make everyday activities easier for people living in the border areas.
The two officials also pledged to enhance Serbian and Macedonian joint efforts to get closer to the EU, which they said was the top priority of both countries.
