The Serbian government held a session today dedicated to EU accession, where Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus gave a report from the 6th meeting of the advanced standing dialogue, which took place on January 27 and 28 in Belgrade.
Labus said that the meeting with European Commission representatives was very successful, noting that it was the last such meeting before getting a positive feasibility study.
The government adopted a resolution saying that the government highly appreciates and respects the patriotic, moral and honourable decision of General Vladimir Lazarevic to go to The Hague voluntarily in the interest of the country. The government will offer all necessary guarantees to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) for General Lazarevic to be released at large until the trial begins. Also, the government ordered the Ministry of Finance to provide all necessary assistance for the family of General Lazarevic.
The government will do everything in its power to provide advancement in cooperation with the ICTY by supporting voluntary surrenders and is ready to offer guarantees to other indictees.
The government said it will fulfill all conditions for getting a positive feasibility study, to be followed by EU accession talks.
