The Government of the Republic of Serbia announced that today’s report submitted by the line authorities to the Operational Team of the state Emergency Response Team shows that 25 open-space fires are currently active across the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

Four locations stand out – Šumarak in the Deliblato Sands, Stolovi mountain, Breznica near Bujanovac and Gornji Brestovac in the municipality of Bojnik – where all available capacities have been engaged in firefighting operations.
With stronger winds expected in the coming days, a prolonged precipitation deficit, dried-out vegetation and localised and uneven showers, the risk of open-space fires breaking out and spreading rapidly remains very high.
The fire in the Deliblato Sands has spread across more than 2,500 hectares. Firefighting operations are also under way on Stolovi mountain and in Breznica, where the fire has affected more than 200 hectares, as well as in Gornji Brestovac, where around 100 hectares are burning. The fire spread into the territory of the villages of Savinac and Rečica, but was contained at around 18:00.
According to the report submitted, water supply to citizens across the country is continuing with isolated local disruptions, while the line authorities are continuously monitoring the situation on the ground.
A slight rise in the Danube water level is being recorded along its entire course, while the Sava is falling. Navigation has not been prohibited, but is taking place under difficult conditions, particularly downstream of the Đerdap 2 hydropower plant and upstream from Belgrade towards Novi Sad and Bezdan.
