The Republic Hydrometeorological Service of Serbia (RHMS) is warning of a high risk of fires starting and spreading in open areas due to high temperatures, a prolonged rainfall deficit, dried-out vegetation and occasionally strong winds.
The fire in Deliblato Sands has affected more than 3,000 hectares, and more than 300 members of the relevant services have been engaged in combating it, together with three helicopters of the Ministry of the Interior and a firefighting vessel.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the relevant authorities are considering the next steps for the rehabilitation and revitalisation of Deliblato Sands following the complete extinguishing of the fire.
All parameters indicating a potential threat to public health in the municipality of Kovin, as well as in other municipalities across Vojvodina, are being closely monitored.
All available capacities have also been deployed to fight the fire on Mt. Stolovi near Kraljevo, where the inaccessible terrain is making the operation more difficult.
The fire at Lake Bovan in the municipality of Aleksinac, where approximately 60 hectares were affected, has been localised.
All relevant authorities are continuing to implement measures and activities aimed at mitigating the negative impact of adverse weather conditions.
