Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Radomir Naumov said last night in Cacak that the Serbian government will do everything in its power so that the Serb villages in Kosovo-Metohija get electrical power as soon as possible, announcing that the construction of small hydroelectric power plants is being considered.

He said that the energy situation in Kosovo-Metohija is difficult, but noted that discrimination is obvious. Naumov recalled that there was no discrimination when Serbia managed the energy sector in the province.
According to Naumov, the production of electricity in the province has dropped by 50 percent since 1999 despite the fact that the international community has invested almost $500 million in Kosovo’s energy sector.
This mainly resulted from a lack of experts, Naumov explained. Today, there is a situation where Serbia is repaying around $600 million in loans previously invested in the facilities in the province, with no management over them or revenues coming, he said.
