During the meeting, Bogdanovic thanked Vollebaek for his engagement in building trust among the various ethnic communities in Kosovo-Metohija, reiterating the necessity of respecting UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and of the status-neutral position of all international missions in the province.
He underlined some of the difficulties all non-Albanian communities are facing in the province, stressing that there are still ethnically motivated conflicts there, as well as distrust between members of various ethnic communities.
This problem can be resolved by finding the perpetrators of all crimes, because otherwise there can be no reconciliation and consequently no trust or tolerance.
Vollebaek affirmed readiness for further OSCE engagement in Kosovo-Metohija within its mandate, voicing his interest in the protection of churches and monasteries in the province.
He noted that the OSCE will continue to work on issues relevant for the exercise of the fundamental human rights of all communities in the province.
