Director of the government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petković today conveyed a clear message to EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Priština Dialogue Peter Sørensen that any tangible progress in the dialogue requires the initiation of concrete steps towards establishing the Community of Serb Municipalities and discussions on the draft of its statute.

During talks with Sørensen in Belgrade, Petković stressed that Priština continues to take new unilateral and escalatory actions, underlining that healthcare and education constitute the backbone of the survival of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and the very core of the Community of Serb Municipalities, and that this must remain so.
Petković also noted that since the beginning of the year, there has been an increase in ethnically motivated incidents by Priština, which is doing everything to create impossible living conditions for Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.
Therefore, as he emphasised, it is essential to urgently proceed with the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, and Belgrade expects the European Union to take concrete steps in this direction, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said in a statement.
