The holy liturgy in the Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Peter and Paul in Moscow was held by Vicar Bishop of Moravica Antonije who reminded those present of human casualties and damaged and destroyed Orthodox holy sites of which some are more than six centuries old and are under the protection of UNESCO.
He urged the faithful to pray for all victims in Kosovo and expressed gratitude to the Russian Orthodox Church, its clergy and believers for providing spiritual and material aid to Kosovo Serbs, as well as to the Russian government which donated $2 million for the reconstruction of temples in Kosovo.
Bishop Antonije gave special thanks to the foreign ministers of Serbia and Russia Vuk Jeremic and Sergei Lavrov respectively, who signed yesterday in Moscow a protocol on the participation of Russian artists in the painting of the interior of St. Sava Temple in the Belgrade neighbourhood of Vracar.
The service at the Serbian Orthodox temple which dates back from 1700 was attended by the diplomatic delegation of the Serbian embassy in Russia and several dozens of citizens.
