Head of the negotiating team of the Serbian government in dialogue with the provisional institutions in Pristina Borislav Stefanovic said today that the agreement on regional representation of Kosovo must be implemented in full form – with an asterisk and footnote next to the name of the province.
Stefanovic told the Tanjug news agency that the problems that occurred at meetings in Belgrade and Sarajevo are just failed attempts by provisional institutions of Pristina to change the Brussels Agreement.
He said that the Serbian government will tomorrow make decisions that will give clear instructions to all state bodies on how to deal with problems at meetings, and to inform all regional organisations on the elements of the agreement reached in Brussels.
Stefanovic recalled that the Pristina delegation today left a meeting held in Belgrade, namely the first regional conference "Partnership for change: civil society and government institutions of the Western Balkans and Turkey".
He explained that the provisional institutions of Pristina refused to participate in it with the text of the footnote that reads “without prejudice to the status, which is in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the decision of the International Court of Justice on Kosovo's declaration of independence”.
Stefanovic said that the same problem also occured in Sarajevo, where the Serbian delegation decided to leave the meeting because the footnote did not include the explanatory text.
He added that official Belgrade will continue to apply the agreements that have been reached.
