Tadic stressed that the premiere of Fiat 500L was also a promotion of Serbia which, as of today, is a “new-old car producer”.
He stressed that his first impressions are outstanding, adding that this model will be sold in both Europe and the United States.
Citizens can now have more confidence in their state. This is most of all a success of the Serbian citizens, the President noted.
The production of model 500L implies an increase in Serbia’s GDP and export by €1.5 billion, which will also help Serbia improve its financial rating and stability, the President explained.
If we had ten investments such as this one, Serbia would be a completely different country and that is why we will move on. Today in Geneva we will talk with other renowned car producers, he added.
The President observed that talks between Serbian representatives and car manufacturers from South Korea, Japan, Italy and Germany are under way.
In today’s meeting with Fiat President Sergio Marchionne there were talks about the world crisis, during which it was concluded that Fiat workers in Serbia, as in other countries in the world, will have to fight for their jobs by showing their quality.
Two new Fiat car models, 500 and 500l, were showcased to the guests of the exhibition by emerging from a stage which opened up like a seashell.
Early in February Fiat-Chrysler stated that the initial price of Fiat 500L will be around €16,000 and that it will be manufactured in two petrol variants and one with a diesel engine.
