Stefanovic expressed satisfaction over the successful outcome of negotiations on this issue and stressed that the agreement reached is in full compliance with our state and national interests.
He explained that in the regional representation, beyond the inscription “Kosovo” there will be an asterisk and the footnote will read "This name does not prejudge the status of Kosovo and is in line with UN Resolution 1244 and the decision of the International Court of Justice on Kosovo's declaration of independence".
Pristina’s request to include in the footnote a specific reference to the Declaration of Kosovo Independence was not met, Stefanovic said, adding that the contents of the footnote is in full compliance with Serbian national interests, Resolution 1244 and the Serbian Constitution.
It is clear that all the criteria set by the European Council for Serbia to get candidate status have been fully met and now it is up to EU member states to make a decision in accordance with the Council’s conclusions.
The Head of the Serbian government’s team recalled that after today's talks the request to establish the freedom of movement and agree the implementation of the agreement on the administrative crossings has been fully met, as well as the most important criterion - to reach an agreement on regional representation of Kosovo.
