Production in Smederevo steelworks to be launched by 10 March

Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric said today that production in Smederevo steelworks should begin no later than 10 March.
Ciric told the Beta news agency said that the steel mill is not working at the moment because due to bad weather it was impossible to ship in raw materials.
He underlined that now it is most important to ensure the smooth running of production in the company, noting that the priorities are delivering raw materials and providing jobs for 5,500 people.
The Minister stressed that in addition to this, it is also important to find a strategic partner for this steel mill and added that there are companies interested from Germany, Italy and India.
He noted that the best option would be if the strategic partner were a company that has its own iron mines and raw materials, such as primary iron ore and coke.
