Improving economic, technological cooperation between Serbia, Azerbaijan

Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric ended his two-day visit to Azerbaijan, during which he signed the Agreement on economic and technological cooperation with Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev.

The agreement between the two governments should boost cooperation in capital infrastructure and energy projects, transportation, agriculture, food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries and information technology.
This document includes technical assistance by experts and specialised staff training, as well as the acquisition of machinery, equipment and materials for projects. Ciric said that it is very important that this document formally opened the possibility for crediting the Ljig-Preljina section of Corridor 11 under very favourable conditions, and confirmed that the negotiations are already under way.
The Minister said that work is scheduled to begin at the end of the first quarter of this year, and pointed out that this visit has confirmed a high level of political, economic and friendly relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan, whose results are expected in the future.
In the first eleven months of 2011,Serbian exports to Azerbaijan amounted to $3.08 billion (down 39.7 % against the same period in 2010), and imports from Azerbaijan amounted to $114 ,000 (a drop of 78.03% over the same period last in 2010).
Major exporters to Azerbaijan include: Hemofarm from Vrsac, TF Kable - FKZ from Zajecar, Evrotehna from Kraljevo, Farmakom Mb from Sabac, Farmanova from Obrenovac, Tarkett from Backa Palanka and Quatro Graphic. Velmoz-Petrovic, Buck and Galenika from Belgrade.
Major importers are NIS from Novi Sad, Farmakom Mb and Sanel from Kragujevac.
