Stefanovic told Tanjug news agency, following a meeting with US Deputy Assistant Secretary Philip Reeker, that he acquainted his collocutor with the essential points of President Tadic’s plan for the province.
He said that these four items are the special status of Kosovo-Metohija, protection of Serbs south from the Ibar River, protection of Serbian sacred sites and the cultural heritage, and the protection of Serb property in the province.
Stefanovic said that they also discussed Pristina’s regional representation, which is one of the key conditions for Serbia’s acquisition of EU candidate status, as well as the implementation of agreements reached in dialogue with Pristina.
As for Pristina’s regional representation, Stefanovic underlined that consultations must continue, adding that the meeting with Robert Cooper, the EU mediator in talks between Belgrade and Pristina, will be of huge importance.
He stated that Serbia can expect US support in terms of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the EU integration process and stabilization of the situation in the region.
Stefanovic noted that the USA endorses Serbia’s candidacy for the EU.
