Kalanovic told the press after the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Development Fund that this decision relates to more than 220,000 entrepreneurs in Serbia, and pointed out that this is a real anti-crisis measure of the Serbian government for the assistance to this sector next year.
She noted that one year after the Development Fund was relocated from Belgrade to Nis, it has been proved that this was a good decision and that Nis has good enough administration for such an institution and that it can provide it with equally good conditions for work as it would have in Belgrade.

Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric noted that over the past three months the number of applications through the Development Fund in Nis increased by 60%, reiterating that this justifies the relocation of the Fund and its activities which are primarily directed towards SMEs.
Director of the Serbian Development Fund Sladjana Backovic specified that in 2011 the Fund approved 643 loans totalling RSD 14.7 billion.
At today’s session of the Board of Directors another RSD 2.2 billion in loans has been approved, she said, adding that with these funds the SMEs will have received over RSD 17 billion in 2011.
Backovic noted that the Fund projects loans to the amount of RSD 15 billion for SMEs in 2012, as well as RSD 200 million for female entrepreneurs, twice the funds that were allocated in 2011.
The Fund has invested considerable efforts to repay the previously approved loans and strove to tighten the control of earmarked credits, she noted.
