Head of the Serbian government’s team for dialogue with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic announced today that copies of the civil registry from Kosovo-Metohija, that had been given to this team by the decision of the Serbian government, will be submitted to the EU and the UN after certification, and subsequently to provisional institutions of government in Pristina.
Stefanovic told Tanjug news agency that the agreement on delivering copies was made during the talks in Brussels, although Pristina wanted to get the originals.
He recalled that copies of the civil registry, together with six originals, remained in Kosovo-Metohija after 1999 so Pristina owns them now.
Pristina also requested that Serbia stops keeping records on Kosovo-Metohija, which Belgrade refused, he underlined.
Speaking about the procedure under which the agreement from Brussels will be implemented, Stefanovic said that the copies of civil registry will first be submitted to implementation groups in dialogue with Pristina and certified.
After that they will be sent to the EU and the UN, in line with the law that allows the submission of copies to international organisations and finally to Pristina.
On the other hand we will have the opportunity to obtain copies of civil registry from Pristina, he said and expressed hope that following the adoption of the Regulation on special ways of processing data in the civil registry for the area of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo-Metohija, the government will pass two more regulations that will allow the implementation of agreements reached in Brussels, and which concern the cadastre and the freedom of movement.
