Ciric underlined that Lames Group will invest €8 million and employ more than 250 people in Sremska Mitrovica where unemployment rate is 20%.
The construction of this factory speaks about the great importance of Fiat’s investment in Serbia, since whose arrival more than 110 companies from the automotive industry invested in Serbia, the Minister said.
He pointed out that Lames Group is just one of many companies that will supply Fiat’s new model to be produced in Kragujevac and noted that this factory will also export products for Peugeot Citroen Group and BMW.
Lames received €1.74 million through a programme of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, administered by the Serbian Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA), to create 249 new jobs, or €7,000 for each new job.
In 2010 Lames made more than €100 million in operating income on a consolidated basis and produced approximately 9.5 million units of windows and 800,000 door modules units.
Lames’ biggest customers are Fiat, Peugeot Citroen Group, General Motors and BMW. The group has a total of 408 employees.
