Under a programme for vocational education reform in Serbia, financed by the EAR, 55 secondary schools in Serbia will receive a total of 1,500 computers.
Martins said following the handover ceremony that creating conditions for a better secondary education in Serbia is an important pre-condition for the country’s association with the EU and he expressed the hope that these computers will be used in the best possible way.
Vuksanovic thanked Martins on the assistance the EAR has provided for Serbia and he called on the wealthiest Serbs and domestic companies to take part in a donor meeting on January 24, which aims to raise funds for the procurement of 10 pianos for Serbia’s musical and ballet schools.
Since August 2003, the EU has provided €5.5 million for the procurement of school equipment in Serbia. The specific needs of experimental schools will be met by the end of the year, it was announced. The EAR has also set aside around €3.8 million for equipment for laboratories and practical training.
