Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government Zoran Loncar said today that the US administration’s decision to freeze financial assistance represents a move that will hardly help in the improvement of democratic processes or promotion of economic reform in Serbia.

Loncar told Tanjug news agency that the Serbian government is aware of its responsibility to citizens as well as its obligations towards the international community. According to him, the government maintains that linking international assistance to the meeting of obligations is not the right way to resolve problems.
The government will continue to fulfil its obligations because they are international obligations the state has assumed, said Loncar and added that the government continues to work on resolving the problem of cooperation with The Hague tribunal and that it will do everything to resolve this issue in the best interest of Serbia.
