WHO endorses regional project for mental health

Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic said today that representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO) have given a positive assessment of a regional mental health project and decided to endorse its implementation over the next five years.

At a special meeting within the Ministerial Conference on Mental Health in Helsinki, Finland, Milosavljevic has presented Serbia-Montenegro’s experience in this field as well as plans to reform the health protection of mentally ill persons, Beta news agency reported.
The conference is expected to produce a declaration on mental health as well as an action plan that will be binding for all WHO-members.
The European Ministerial Conference on Mental Health, organised by the WHO, is taking place in Helsinki, Finland, between January 12 and 15.
