Milivoje Mihajlovic
Mihajlovic said in the morning news programme of Radio Television Serbia (RTS) that people from this area have realised that this agreement is beneficial for reducing tensions and that it averts the breakout of new incidents.
This agreement protects the northern part of Kosovo-Metohija from new precipitate actions by Kosovo authorities, like the one that happened at the end of last month.
Mihajlovic said that representatives of the municipalities of northern Kosovo have the responsibility of making a wise decision that will reduce tensions and restore life to normal.
The provision of the agreement that does not allow freight trucks that carry over 3.5 tonnes to pass the administrative crossings without special permits will not endanger the supply of citizens, Mihajlovic underlined, adding that humanitarian aid will pass through with a special permit in trucks that carry over 3.5 tonnes.
The Director of the Office of Media Relations announced that the decision of Pristina authorities to prevent import of goods from central Serbia will be discussed in Brussels and recalled that this was the reason that caused tensions in the north of the province.
As for Serbia, the resumption of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is not uncertain, Mihajlovic said and added that the Serbian Parliament adopted a declaration that insists on the continuation of dialogue.
However, he said, in Pristina there is a strong tendency of playing down the importance of dialogue and explained that the aim of the operation of the interim Pristina authorities at the administrative crossings was to either prevent or obstruct dialogue, or to compel Serbia to stop it, which in the past was fatal for the interests of our country.
Mihajlovic underlined that that will not happen this time and that it is certain that dialogue will be continued.
