Stefanovic told reporters that later in the day he will have talks with presidents of municipalities of northern Kosovo and with head of the Kosovska Mitrovica District Radenko Nedeljkovic, adding that they carry a great responsibility of implementation of the new agreement.
He explained that this agreement is good in current circumstances and underlined that the state backed it and that it enables peace and normalisation of the situation at the crossings.
Stefanovic pointed out that the attempt at installing Pristina institutions in the north of Kosovo-Metohija has failed.
He said that the agreement enables the trade in goods, and explained that freight traffic up to 3.5 tonnes will be free to pass, while heavier shipments will require approval from the Red Cross.
The problem about the trade in goods will be resolved through dialogue with Pristina.
Stefanovic added that representatives of the Serbian government are satisfied with the agreement, but that its implementation will not be simple because confidence has been undermined by Pristina’s attempt at taking over the north of Kosovo.
Stefanovic expressed confidence that, in cooperation with representatives of the Serbs from northern Kosovo, the unity will be preserved and that the state of Serbia will be given the opportunity and leeway to continue fighting in the right way for the rights of its citizens in the southern province.
