Following a meeting with municipal presidents from northern Kosovo-Metohija, Bogdanovic stressed that citizens are not expected to disperse or remove road blocks, but to peacefully await the results of today’s talks between representatives from Belgrade and KFOR commander Erhard Buehler.
The Minister reiterated his appeal to Serbs at road blocks to let the KFOR convoy through because thus a chance for talks can be exploited, adding that the Serbian government is behind this appeal.
This does not mean that citizens should disperse or remove road blocks, but simply to let the convoy pass using an alternative route. According to the KFOR commander, the convoy is transporting provisions and equipment for their forces in the area, he said.
This request does not refer to the largest road block Rudare, which could not be moved so easily, being composed of logs, bricks and heavy pieces of construction material, Bogdanovic observed.
KFOR would use an alternative route which citizens had only occasionally blocked by their own vehicles and trucks, he added.
Head of the Serbian team for talks with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic also asked citizens in Rudare to enable KFOR to pass through to their base in Leposavic using an alternative route.
Letting the convoy pass through is a condition put forward by the KFOR commander so that he would respond to the demands he received yesterday from Serbian representatives, Stefanovic explained.
