Serbian government sends humanitarian aid for tsunami victims

Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic said that two Aviogenex airplanes will take off from Belgrade to Sri Lanka, carrying 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid provided by the Serbian government for tsunami victims in southeastern Asia.
Ilic told a press conference that the total value of medicines, food and clothing amounts to around €150,000.
Ilic noted that the goods were ready for transport earlier, but explained that the government waited for approval from the International Red Cross in Geneva to begin movement.
He said that the humanitarian aid was provided both from commodity reserves and donations. According to him, Aviogenex provided airplanes, NIS gave the fuel, while the government secured the goods.
