Stefanovic told Tanjug news agency that Pristina's unilateral attempt at changing the situation on the ground is motivated by its desire to prejudge the outcome of the talks, which is impossible.
At this point we have two tasks - one is to solve this crisis and that people remain calm, and the second, when we achieve this, to continue negotiations in order to reach a lasting solution, he underlined.
Stefanovic said that he and Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic will continue to look for a solution to the crisis in the north of the province in the talks with representatives of international missions.
The head of the Serbian government’s team voiced hope that KFOR commander Erhard Buehler, who has mediated between Belgrade and Pristina in the last few days, will come up with some new proposals during today’s talks.
He underlined that Belgrade requests from the international community first of all not to serve the government in Pristina and carry out its plans, but to help keep peace and solve the crisis.
It is important to stay calm and avoid any form of violence, Stefanovic reiterated and noted that citizens are undertaking activities that are coordinated at the level of municipality presidents.
There are crisis response teams in whose work we participate actively and try to preserve peace and stability, and the state of Serbia will support all these activities and stand by its people, he said.
The crisis in the north of the province would have already been solved if Jarinje administrative crossing had not been burned, he stated and added that Serbia will find a way to discover who is responsible for that incident.
