The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija stated today that the statement of US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Thomas Countryman that the Serbian authorities introduced an embargo on import of goods from Kosovo more than two years ago is deplorable because it is a clumsy attempt at finding justification for one more one-sided and unreasonable act made by Pristina in the middle of dialogue.
The statement by the Ministry says that it is obvious that this is a dangerous distortion of truth because Belgrade is not the one who has been trying since 2008 to change customs documentation and push UNMIK out, adding that everybody in the international community knows this undisputed fact.
Everybody must know that Belgrade has never introduced any kind of embargo on goods from Kosovo and this is why we believe that putting embargo on imports of goods from central Serbia can have very negative consequences both on dialogue and the situation on the ground.
Belgrade has shown that it is ready to solve every problem through dialogue and such moves by Pristina only damage the perspective of reaching a solution through negotiations.
The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija and all Serbian state bodies will remain consistent in their attempt to reach compromise only through dialogue, it is added in the statement.
