First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic met today with head of the Kosovska Mitrovica District Radenko Nedeljkovic and municipal presidents from Leposavic, Kosovska Mitrovica, Zubin Potok and Zvecan.
The meeting looked at the security and political situation in the province that arose after a certain number of Serbian police officers stopped working in the Kosovo Police Service.
An agreement was reached that the problems be solved in a constructive way, in cooperation with EULEX, so that a solution could be found for the functioning and organisation of the KPS in Serbian communities.
The participants in the meeting agreed that in the process of appointing commanders of police stations, the proposal of local self-governments must be taken into account and noted that EULEX should have an important role in the organisation of the police command structure in Serbian communities in Kosovo-Metohija, reads the statement by the Ministry of the Interior.
