Stefanovic told the Tanjug news agency that the talks in London with representatives of the Foreign Office and British Minister of State responsible for European issues David Lidington were very constructive.
We received support for the solutions we have reached so far, but we also used this opportunity to ask the UK government to do everything in their power to prevent Pristina from such activities that recently took place in the province, including the seizure of documents from the Serbs, and to do everything to release five young men who were arrested on Vidovdan (St. Vitus Day), Stefanovic said.
He said that future topics of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina were also discussed at the meetings.
The UK once again reiterated full support to Serbia in its European integration and confirmed that Serbia's path towards the EU is not conditioned by the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state, Stefanovic said.
This fully complies with our position. It has been a long time since we last had the full support of all governments within the EU, said Stefanovic.
Noting that this was a good opportunity for some sort of lobbying for Serbia's stands, Stefanovic said that we should always use high-level talks to present our positions, but also the difficulties that we encounter in the negotiations related to the conduct of Pristina authorities.
The head of the Serbian negotiating team with Pristina said that he expects more such meetings before the next round of dialogue with Pristina, as he often receives calls from representatives of governments from the region, but also from the EU, and will certainly respond to the invitation to any such meeting.
It is always an opportunity to reiterate our firm position about the sovereignty of Serbia over Kosovo-Metohija, and also to demonstrate full commitment to finding practical solutions to issues that mostly burden the Serbs living in Kosovo, concluded Stefanovic.
