The store spans 8,300 square meters of selling space and some 2,600 square meters of storage space. Food items account for more than half of the 20,000 articles on sale.
Bubalo said that the opening of a Metro Cash&Carry store will encourage domestic manufacturers to improve the quality of their products in order to be sold at the world famous retailer’s store.
Metro Cash&Carry’s Serbian general manager Damir First recalled that the store cost around €15 million to build and that construction was launched on September 24, 2004.
According to him, the German retailer plans to open several more stores in Serbia, creating 300 jobs each.
