Karanovic said that medical equipment including 24 stationary and seven transport incubators, 15 colposcopes, 22 cardiotocographs, 33 inhalators, 11 vacuum extractors and 31 aspirators will be soon distributed to medical centres in Serbia, according to priority.
Institute Director Slobodanka Ilic said that that is the only neonatology centre for treating premature infants and children with severe anomalies in the country, and stressed that the survival of such an institution requires help of the state. According to Ilic, mortality rate of children in the institute was reduced to 6.17 percent from 13 percent in 2000.
