Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija condemns stoning of Serbs in Djakovica

The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija has condemned yesterday's attack on a convoy of Serbs who, escorted by the police, came to visit a cemetery in Djakovica and stated that it will request from the international authorities to provide freedom of movement for Serbs in the province.
In the centre of Djakovica, buses with displaced Serbs that came to visit the cemetery on All Soul’s Day were stoned.
The incident in Djakovica is one of many in the last few days that show what the position of the ethnic Albanian community is and of provisional institutions in Pristina regarding the return of expelled Serbs, reads a statement by the Ministry.
The attack on the convoy of Serbs is a bad message of Kosovo authorities to expelled Serbs who want to return to their homes. As long as perpetrators of these acts are not found and punished and as long as they are treated too softly, attacks on Serbs will continue to happen.
The Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija will request from the international authorities to secure freedom of movement in the province, but also to compel Pristina to create necessary conditions for the return of displaced and expelled Serbs, the statement adds.
