The Serbian parliament, in accordance with the Law on free access to information of public interest, has appointed Rodoljub Sabic as the Trustee for information of public interest.
Sabic’s appointment was backed by 123 deputies, while 30 abstained from voting. The law, passed on November 13, gives additional rights to citizens and obliges state bodies to produce information on their work upon request.
The Trustee’s term in office is seven years and can be elected again.
The Trustee is independent and may not be a member of any political party.
The Trustee should submit a report on his work as well as the work of the state bodies once a year.
