Resolution of concrete problems priority of Belgrade, Pristina talks

Head of the Serbian government’s team for dialogue with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic said that he spoke today with officials of the provisional institutions in Pristina about the course of the dialogue and various modalities for solution of problems that are the subject of the negotiating process.

Stefanovic told Tanjug news agency after the meeting with head of the Pristina negotiating team Edita Tahiri and Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci that today’s talks in Pristina do not mean that Serbia changed its position on Kosovo.

These talks clearly have no features of a state visit and do not represent any change in our stance on the status of Kosovo. We have made that clear to our interlocutors, Stefanovic said.

We had the opportunity to further explain our view of the resolution of problems, to give some concrete new proposals and to hear the views of the other party. So, I can say that the talks went on in a working and constructive atmosphere. Kuci and Tahiri showed a lot of understanding, the head of the Serbian team said.

The talks were comprehensive, he said and expressed regret that they have been overshadowed by riots and violence in Pristina, noting that this is evidence of division in Kosovo's political society and something that does not favour the proper conducting of dialogue and constructive finding of solutions.

Stefanovic said that all issues were successfully covered and underlined that representatives of Serbia remained focused on advocating our national interests, defending our sovereignty, but most of all on resolving concrete problems, without highlighting the obvious differences on the status of Kosovo.

We can say that somehow we communicated better and had the opportunity to show that talking about something is not anything strange or unusual, and that these things are a normal situation between people, which should solve the common major problems which plague all our citizens in Kosovo-Metohija, Stefanovic concluded.
