Tasic told Tanjug news agency that the assistance was approved by the government within a process of distribution of funds to soup kitchens throughout Serbia.
He said that during the previous years, the Serbian Commodity Reserves organised assistance for soup kitchens in central Serbia, adding that today’s shipment of five tonnes of meat products is the first portion intended for the province.
Soup kitchens in Kosovo-Metohija currently feed 1,800 people. Assistance from the Serbian Commodity Reserves is located in soup kitchens’ storage rooms in Prekovce near Novo Brdo.
