In an interview for International Radio Serbia, Stefanovic underlined the importance of opening and resolving some of the key topics before the year’s end, because the quicker they are solved, the sooner will other, most important problems be tackled, which are expected to be resolved by mid-2012.
During the three rounds of talks held so far, the Serbian side suggested new, creative and flexible proposals, however, the results have been negligible, he observed.
We have already suggested that the issue of return and missing persons be discussed in the talks, Stefanovic said, adding that the Serbian side will insist on this.
We strictly adhere to the Serbian Constitution and Serbian Parliament resolutions, and will therefore not discuss the status issue.
Pristina keeps imposing their view of the status and seeking endorsement for it, but they cannot expect this from Belgrade, just as we can never be expected to recognise the unilaterally declared Kosovo independence, he underlined.
Stefanovic announced that the fourth round of talks will be held in mid-May, adding that no new topics will be opened on that occasion, but the negotiating teams will continue trying to resolve the already opened subjects.
