Serbia, EU to initial quota-free textile export deal

Serbian Assistant Minister of International Economic Relations Ana Blagojevic will initial a textile trade agreement in Brussels today that would allow for quota free imports of Serbian textile products to the EU.
Blagojevic said the agreement will eliminate quotas, or quantity restrictions, as well as tariffs on imports of Serbian textile to the EU on the condition that it is produced in Serbia.
Serbia, for its part, will be obliged to phase out import duties on EU textiles over the next three years at an annual pace of 25 percent, according to Blagojevic.
By 2008, the tariffs on EU textiles will be eliminated, she said and added that this measure has been agreed upon with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
