March retail prices of goods, services up 2.6%

The Statistics Office said today that the retail prices of goods and services used for personal consumption in March 2011 increased by 2.6% on average against the previous month.
Compared to March 2010, the prices grew by 14.1%, while compared to December 2010 they increased by 5.5%.
The largest hike in prices was recorded in the following groups: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.8%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.3%), health (1.6%) and hotels and restaurants (0.7%).
Clothes and footwear group marked a drop of 0.3%, while the prices of other goods and services did not change significantly.
