Ivanovic told Tanjug news agency that the Ministry will not call upon Serbs to take part in the census in the province, because it is being conducted in a state of utter distrust between the two ethnic communities.
This is why we were so reserved about it from the very start and insisted that the census should be conducted by a neutral international organisation, he observed.
Ivanovic said that the census is not transparent, that it is insufficiently prepared and susceptible to manipulations of census results, adding that an insignificant number of Serbs in the province will take part in it.
The fact that it is not known how the census will include Serbs who have been internally displaced and what is more, whether they will be included at all, poses a major problem, Ivanovic outlined.
Their property is therefore subject to manipulations. Therefore, I think that Serbs should not take part in this census, but wait for the one that will be organised in October by the Serbian authorities, he concluded.
