A statement of the Ministry for Kosovo-Metohija said that Bogdanovic pointed out that there have been no representatives of the UN in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina so far and that this organisation must assume its role in the negotiating process.
Belgrade insists that the UN should have its role in the negotiations, Bogdanovic said and added that the UN must advocate for itself and its role in this dialogue.
The Minister reiterated that Serbia’s has long ago made its position clear, namely that the UN is the supreme international authority in the province and that it must behave accordingly, in line with their mandate.
Any attempt to marginalise the UN can only lead to counter-effects, bearing in mind how much confidence the north of the province, where Serbs are a majority, places in the UN, Bogdanovic said.
He said he is displeased with the work of the UN Office in the north, noting that the Office should cooperate with all local-self governments.
Zannier outlined that UNMIK will continue with its activities in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 in all areas, including representing Kosovo abroad.
Bogdanovic and Zannier agreed that Belgrade and UNMIK must intensify their contacts to clear out any ambiguities in cooperation, the statement adds.
