Jeremic will present Serbia's positions at the UN Security Council session, which will consider the latest report to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon about the situation in the province.
All war crimes committed during the wars in the former Yugoslavia have so far been investigated within the mandate of the UN Security Council and the Security Council was reported on the findings of those investigations. This case must not be different, Jeremic said in a statement to the news agency Tanjug.
He warned that EULEX cannot conduct the investigation alone, because it has no territorial jurisdiction over all the countries where the investigation should be carried out, as it has a mandate only in Kosovo-Metohija.
On the other hand, we must ensure that the investigative mechanism has the capacity to protect witnesses, said the Minister, reminding that the problem of witness protection is also mentioned in Marty's report.
Serbia's diplomacy over the past few days and weeks has intensive consultations with all member states of the UN Security Council, in order to achieve the widest possible support for this initiative at the meeting, he said.
We do not expect the debate to finish today. This is just the beginning of the debate and discussion in the Security Council. Serbia will continue to insist on starting a credible international investigation with the mandate of the UN Security Council, said Minister of Foreign Affairs.
