Investigation into human organ trade in Kosovo-Metohija must begin soon

Minister for Kosovo-Metohija Goran Bogdanovic stated today that it is vital that the investigation into illicit trade in human organs in Kosovo-Metohija begins as soon as possible, and that an independent committee is formed.
Bogdanovic told television Most from Zvecan that it is important to finally put an end to the crimes that have been a public secret in the province for the last 11 years.
The Minister underlined that Serbia spoke about the crimes, but the silence of the international community in this period and the lack of any action on behalf of those whose task was to uncover crimes resulted in nothing being done to look into this matter.
It is good that after 11 years these events were finally brought to light in the report of the Council of Europe special rapporteur Dick Marty, added Bogdanovic.
EULEX has not performed all of its tasks, but the announcement that the mission will be reinforced and special witness protection teams established is good news, so that the crimes can be resolved promptly and in the best possible manner, he concluded.
