Decision to ban use of new Serbian licence plates in Kosovo should be revoked

State Secretary for Kosovo-Metohija Oliver Ivanovic said today that he expects EULEX to invalidate the decision of the Ministry of the Interior of Kosovo to ban the use of new Serbian licence plates that have the first letters of the cities in Kosovo-Metohija.
Ivanovic told Tanjug news agency that EULEX should invalidate this decision or exert pressure for it to be withdrawn.
In his opinion, the decision to ban new Serbian licence plates is illegal and thus cannot be enforced, unless someone wants to deliberately provoke incidents in the north of Kosovo-Metohija.
Ivanovic warned that this decision may also disrupt the beginning of negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, and reiterated that with their unilateral moves the Albanians complicate and politically burden the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
