State Secretary for Kosovo-Metohija Oliver Ivanovic stated that the role of the UN and UNMIK in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is crucial, as these are the only organisations acceptable for both sides and as such irreplaceable when discussing unresolved issues.
A statement by the Ministry’s office in Kosovska Mitrovica reads that following a meeting with UNMIK Chief Lamberto Zannier, Ivanovic remarked that Serbia sees this dialogue as the only way to solve unresolved issues in the southern province, adding that it awaits the beginning of talks with a great deal of hope.
In a situation like this, dialogue is necessary in order to resolve everyday issues of ordinary people, Ivanovic observed.
Ivanovic and Zannier emphasised that the situation in the north of the province is stable and peaceful, voicing their hope that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will begin shortly.
Zannier declared that he will monitor the preparation for the dialogue with special attention in order to be able to describe the situation in the province in his regular report in January 2011, the statement concludes.
