Slobodan Samardzic, the political advisor to Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, voiced the hope that the resolution of problems in Kosovo-Metohija will suit all sides involved.

Following a UN Security Council session on Kosovo in New York yesterday, Samardzic told the Tanjug news agency that the session focused on the province's main problems, in line with the Serbian government's assessments of the situation there.
Despite formal approaches to the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, participants in the session said that the position of the local Serb community remains difficult, said Samardzic.
Noting that discussions on the resolution of problems in the province highlighted power decentralisation and Belgrade's role in further decentralisation talks, Samardzic expressed the hope that the process of decentralisation will resume and pave the way for improving the position of Kosovo-Metohija Serbs.
Following the session, Samardzic and Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija head Nebojsa Covic held talks with ambassadors of Contact Group countries and Security Council member states.
