Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus said today upon his visit to Oil Refinery Pancevo that the Serbian government will offer assistance, within its possibilities, to help solve the problem of environmental pollution in Pancevo.
Speaking at a press conference, Labus said that the reconstruction of a reservoir for transfer of pyrolytic oil from Pancevo's Petrochemical Industry to the refinery marked the start of short-term measures for tackling the ecological problem in Pancevo. Labus said that one more reservoir with an ecological roof and aluminium membrane, which significantly reduces pollution, will be put into operation on December 1.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that in the course of the next year, another 17 petrol reservoirs will be renovated in Oil Refinery Pancevo. He recalled that modern floating aluminium roofs were built in 11 reservoirs in the past four years.
According to Labus, the Serbian government plans to initiate long-term measures needed for the solution of environmental problems in Pancevo.
