Role of church is important in European integration

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus said today in Becej that the role of church is important in European integration.
Attending a regional conference discussing the role of the church in religious, cultural and interethnic cooperation in Becej, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed belief that the conference will contribute to stabilisation of the situation in the region and development of tolerance.
Labus talked about ethical values of Christian love, stressing that equal rights must be provided for all. He noted that Europe must be a leader in showing that the rules of civilisation should be equal for all ethnic groups.
Labus also pointed to the importance of churches in European integration and creating moral attitudes of the new Europe.
The conference, whose aim is to improve co-existence of peoples living in Serbia, particularly those in Vojvodina, was organised by the Serbian Orthodox Church and Vojvodina’s Roman Catholic and Protestant churches.
