Assistant Head of the MUP Public Security Service Srbislav Randjelovic said that the main purpose of the conference is exchange of information on the level of crime in neighbouring countries and the establishment of measures for fighting crime. According to Randjelovic, one of the priorities is to improve cooperation between services, as well as to examine the legislation and its relation towards courts and the prosecution.
Head of the MUP Criminal Police Department Milutin Mitrovic said that the aim of the conference is to boost security in the region and therefore, in Europe as a whole.
OSCE representative Roger Berg said that successful cooperation between regional law enforcement agencies is an important precondition for curbing organised and cross-border crime, as well as terrorism. He pointed out that the quality of evidence of a crime is very important for court proceedings and explained that quality evidence can be obtained only through successful cooperation of all relevant factors of the state administration.
