Serbian Assistant Minister of Finance and Director of the Treasury Vesna Dzinic said that the Serbian government plans to prepare a programme of restructuring of public companies by the end of the year, and whose implementation will begin January 1, 2005.
Dzibic told the Tanjug news agency that the government's priority in the next year is the restructuring of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia, the Oil Industry of Serbia, the Yugoslav Airways, the Belgrade Airport, the Srbijasume forest company, the Srbijavoda water company, the Railway and Transport company of Serbia, Telekom Srbija and PTT public communications company.
She said that the passing of new laws finally created possibilities for the start of consolidation, reorganisation and ownership transformation of public companies. The basic fields of activity of these companies will not be privatised. The first sales of secondary activities of public companies should not be expected before the middle of 2005.
