State Secretary for Kosovo-Metohija Oliver Ivanovic positively assessed the statement by EULEX Chief Yves de Kermabon that local judges and prosecutors will not return to work in the district court in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica on 15 July and that talks regarding this matter are continuing.
Ivanovic told Tanjug news agency that in a situation like this it would be counterproductive to insist on this date, and stressed that it is necessary to define territorial jurisdiction and whose laws will be applied.
Kermabon said in a statement last night that the date for the return of the judges has still not been set and that the court is functioning partially only with EULEX judges and prosecutors.
He reiterated that there is a pressing need for re-establishing the full working capacity of the court and the best way to move ahead is to find a solution in cooperation with all relevant parties.
