Ivanovic told Tanjug news agency that Giffoni pointed out that out of 27 EU member states, five have not recognised Kosovo's independence, which means the Union does not have a unique position on the status of Kosovo-Metohija.
He said that the Italian diplomat said that he is guided by the general policy of Brussels, and not by the individual positions of EU member states regarding the status of Kosovo-Metohija.
Ivanovic and Giffoni met in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica at a working dinner to discuss the plans of the Union and its participation in infrastructure projects in the north of Kosovo-Metohija.
The State Secretary for Kosovo-Metohija said that they discussed investing in the construction of water supply, sewerage and parking in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica.
Giffoni expressed the EU’s readiness to support these projects, the way it does in other parts of Kosovo-Metohija, Ivanovic said.
